How does Mesopotamia compare with the Indus River Valley (IRV)? Identify both similarities and differences. Think of why a specific similarity and a specific difference might exist. (This is analysis; one of the more challenging skills you will need to develop).
Both civilizations date back to the Bronze Age, both were born on the banks of a mighty river which fostered their development. Yet their geographical conditions were very different, in that the IRV was surrounded by highlands with plenty of natural resources while Mesopotamia lacked the natural resources and had to import them.
Both civilizations had their urban centers developed around the same time (first part of the 3rd Millenium). In both of the the cult evolved around the main temple which was dedicated to a local deity. Thanks to the abundance of natural resources, the temple and palaces in IRV had their decoration and ritual objects more often from precious materials than in Mesopotamia. The two civilizations were mutually aware of each other and they were in contacts.
