How do you expect the metallic hydrides to be useful for hydrogen storage? Explain

In metallic hydrides, hydrogen is adsorbed as H-atoms. This property of adsorption of hydrogen on transition metals is widely used as its storage media. Some of the metals such as Pd, Pt can accommodate a very large volume of hydrogen. This property has high potential for hydrogen storage and as a source of energy. Metallic hydrides on heating decompose to form hydrogen and very finely divided metal.
