How do I take the derivative and second derivative of an absolute value function?
Turn it into a piecewise function.
y= I 2x-6 I
y= -(2x-6) x < 3
y= 2x-6 x > or = 3
You can take the derivative of each individually (although at the vertex it is unable to be differentiated). In this case you cant take a second derivative because I wanted to give an easy example, but in principal you can.
