How did the Agricultural Revolution and the globalization of food production and markets affect Europe and its empires in the 1700-Late 1800s Period?
The Agricultural Revolution led increases in the populations of Europe countries and a reduction in the number of people needed to work in the fields. As a result, more and more impoverished former farmers/farmhands moved to the cities, increasing the populations of the cities and reducing the quality of life in cities.
Because of this, many European kingdoms and empires sought to create colonies in order to lessen the social pressures and crowding at home while also boosting their economies.
Later on, the globalization of food production led to the rise of empires meant to provide food and other resources for the home country while also serving as outlets for the home country’s manufactured goods
