Give an account of cotton cultivation in India, under the following heads : (a) Temperature, rainfall and irrigation requirements. (b) Soil requirements. (c) Two major cotton producing states

Cotton :
(a) Temperature : Cotton is grown in tropical and sub-tropical areas. It requires at least 210 frost- free days in a year. At the time of harvest the weather should be fine to maintain the lustre of the cotton.
(b) Soil : It grows well in Black and Alluvial soils.
