Explain the role of an antigen in the acquired defenses

Answer:

When a macrophage digests foreign debris/pathogen, it will present an antigen, or in other words, a molecule that is usually a protein present on the surface of the pathogen to a helper T-Cell.These helper T-cells then stimulate B-cells and turns them into memory-B cells and plasma cells. Plasma cells go to create antibodies while memory-b cells allows for a faster antibody-mediated immune response for subsequent infections.
