Explain the following statements
(i) Community health is essential for good individual health.
(ii) Villagers suffer with cholera more than urban people.
(i) There are many factors that are essential for good health, e.g. clean environment, proper sanitation, etc. Community takes preventive measures for ensuring the maintenance of these factors, e.g. if water is left stagnant, mosquitoes breed there and cause diseases like malaria. Community people keeps a check on it Hence, for good individual health, community health is essential.
(ii) In villages, people often defecate in open and the water is also taken from hand pumps, etc., for use. This increases the chances of water getting contaminated. And as cholera is transmitted by water, the villagers are more likely to suffer from the disease.
