How is biological loss of forest and wildlife correlated with loss of cultural diversity ?
Ans. Forest and wildlife losses have increasingly
marginalised and impoverished indigenous and other forest dependent communities. Within the poor, women are affected more because they are responsible for collection of fuel, fodder, water and other basic subsistence needs.
As these resources are depleted, they have to walk long distances to collect these resources, causing serious health problem, besides negligence of home and children, which often has serious ’ social implications. Thus, loss of cultural diversity is a direct outcome of environment destruction.
