The jour features of ‘Ngo Dinh Diem’ regime were
(i) Ngo Dinh Diem led a coup and overthrew the Bao Dai regime.
(ii) This regime set up a repressive and authoritarian government where anyone who opposed him was called a Communist and was jailed and killed.
(iii) Diem used a French Law Ordinance 10 that permitted Christianity, but outlawed Buddhism as a major religion of Vietnam. (iv) The National Liberation Front (NLF) opposed the dictatorial rule of the Ngo Dinh Diem regime and fought for the unification of the country with the help of Ho Chi Minh of North Vietnam.
