Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus to red whereas aqueous hydrogen chloric acid does. Why ?

  1. Dry hydrogen chloride gas is not an acid. Hence it can’t turn blue litmus into red.
    2)Hydrochloric acid is an aqueous solution. Hence it can turn blue litmus into red.
