Did Alexander Hamilton ever run for the president of US? If not, what were the reasons?
No Alexander Hamilton never ran for President of the United States for a number of reasons. The first of these was that in the early years of his political career George Washington was president and he chose instead to serve under him rather than to run against him.
Upon the end of Washington’s tenure in office, Hamilton was then wrapped in one of the nation’s first scandals when it was discovered that he had been having an affair with another mans wife while paying off the husband.
This destroyed any possibility of him ever being able to run for the presidency due to the poor moral image it gave to the public of him. He then later chose to withdraw from politics to spend more time with his family, particularly after his son was killed in a duel.
