Define kinetic energy and potential energy. Write an expression for KE of a body of mass m moving with speed v. Find the kinetic energy of stone of 10 kg moving with a velocity of 10 ms^-1

Kinetic energy: The energy possessed by a body by virtue of its motion is called kinetic energy.

Potential energy : The energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position or configuration is called potential energy.
The expression is KE = 1/2 mv^2.

Given, m = 10 kg,
v = 10 m s^-1
Therefore, KE = 1/2 x 10 x (10)^2 = 500 J
