The role of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry in promotion trade may be explained
as under
(i) Inter-state Movement of Goods It facilitates the inter-state movement of goods by registration of vehicles, construction of roads, etc.
(ii) Local Taxes It ensures octroi and local taxes do not hamper the smooth transportation of goods.
(iii) Labour Laws The Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry constantly interacts with the government on issues of labour laws.
(iv) Infrastructure It advises the government to take up heavy investments in roads, ports, electricity, etc.
(v) Weights and Measures and Protection of Brands It .Interacts with the government and
formulate laws and take action against those who violate laws relating to weights and measures and protection of brands.
(vi) Excise Duty It is payable on the materials used in manufacturing goods. Excise duty plays an important role in pricing mechanism. Indian .Chambers bf Commerce arid Industry interacts with the government to ensure streamlining of excise duty.
