**Carla says that 5/6 is greater than 0.8. Is she correct? Show your work.**

**Answer:**

Lets see this problem in terms of an physical sense:

Any fraction can be seen as ratio of portion of a quantity( eg cake) to complete quantity.

5/6 if we divide a cake into 6 parts then if i am getting 5 parts out or 6 thats 5/6

similarly 0.8 is 8 out of 10 parts ( or 4 out of 5)

if we need to compare two fractions, the denominators shoud be equal

so 5/6 = (5*5)/(6*5)= 25/30

and 4/5 = (4*6)/(5*6)= 24/30

so from above 5/6 is obviously greater than 0.8
